Audition Information
May 22 & 23 at the Jasper Arts Center
Performances will be held July 20-23 at the Jasper Arts Center
Children 6 – 10 years old: Auditions for youth roles (Munchkins, Poppies, Jitterbugs) will consist of a short dance call and vocal audition. You do not need to prepare a song; all youth auditionees will sing “Happy Birthday” in a group. YOUTH AUDITIONS BEGIN AT 5:30 PM!!! Please be at the theater by 5:30 pm.
Anyone age 11 and up: Auditions for principle and ensemble roles will consist of a dance call, a vocal audition, and cold readings from the script. Auditionees should prepare 16 bars or about 1 minute of a musical theatre OR Disney song that shows their range. Please come wearing clothes that are easy to move in for the dance call. AUDITIONS BEGIN AT 6:15 PM!!! Please be at the theater by 6:15 pm.

Characters:
DOROTHY GALE: Female, teen, Young Kansas girl, earnest, expressive, and strong-willed, in search of something more.
.HUNK / SCARECROW: male, teen, Honest, plucky, and clever in a pinch, even while lacking a brain.
HICKORY / TIN MAN: male, teen/adult, Desperate for a heart. A kind-hearted romantic.
ZEKE / COWARDLY LION: male, teen/adult, A mix of bravado and cowardice. Cuddly with excellent comic timing.
ALMIRA GULCH / WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST: female, adult. Character villain with an over-the-top stage presence. Comedic with a killer cackle.
PROFESSOR MARVEL / THE WIZARD: male, adult. Older father figure with an eccentric flair. Non-Singing.
GLINDA: female, adult, Glinda is the Good Witch of the North. Benevolent and beloved.
AUNT EM: female, adult. Aunt Em is demanding but loves her niece. Non-singing.
UNCLE HENRY: male, adult. Dorothy’s pleasant uncle. Non-singing.
EMERALD CITY GUARD: any, teen/adult. Comedic, big presence.
MUNCHKINS: boys and girls, 6-10, The little people of Munchkinland. Long oppressed, and happy to be freed. Group singing and coordinated movement
required. There are some featured roles among the munchkins, such as The Coroner,
The Lollipop Guild, and The Lullaby League.
WINKIES / FLYING MONKEYS / OZIANS: teen/adult, age 12+. The adult
chorus of the show, with featured speaking/vocal/dancing roles available.
POPPIES: any age or gender
JITTERBUGS: any age or gender, strong dancers
